How to use leet weather
leet weather compares as many enabled public forecast sources as possible, then calculates an arithmetic average on your device. The goal is to make a useful multi-source forecast without requiring a paid weather subscription. Data providers may still enforce their own request limits.
Calculation modes
Choose a mode to control how many enabled sources are used. Switch modes on the location page without reloading it.
| Mode | How it works |
|---|---|
| Quick | Uses the small core set of sources assigned to Quick for the fastest initial result. |
| Good | Combines Quick sources with additional Good-tier sources for a broader average. Shareable links use ?mode=good. |
| Pro | Uses all enabled and configured sources, including optional providers available through the administrator. Select Pro by clicking it on the page; a URL cannot activate this mode. |
These modes only narrow the sources enabled by the administrator. A source disabled in settings remains disabled in every mode.
Why the client-side design improves reliability
For the normal interactive forecast, most public weather models are requested directly by your browser. Leet Weather’s servers coordinate the experience rather than funneling every public-model request through one shared server. This means each visitor normally uses their own provider-side request quota instead of sharing a single Leet Weather server quota.
Some optional providers require private credentials or server-side adapters; those requests necessarily run through the site server and use the quota of that provider account. If one provider fails or reaches a limit, the other available sources can still contribute to the forecast.
You can also use Leet Weather through its JSON endpoint for integrations. The response can include current weather data and an SVG weather icon from a collection of nearly 50 weather-icon variants.
What the forecast means
Aggregated forecast is the arithmetic mean of the enabled sources that returned usable data. Model cards show the forecast from one source only; click a card to inspect that model or aggregator without averaging it with the others.
Forecast horizons differ. A source that only provides seven days does not contribute to day 12, for example. The small Sources: N badge shows how many distinct sources supplied data for that particular hour or day. It is not a probability or a measure of certainty.
The interactive page requests public Open-Meteo model data directly from your browser and performs the aggregation in JavaScript on your device. Optional providers that require private API credentials are relayed through the server so that their keys are not exposed. The project is designed to be free to use, but upstream services can impose rate limits.
Search and share a location
Search for a city or place in the main box. After three characters, choose a suggestion to use its coordinates consistently across all sources.
Place name:
?place=Elblag
Coordinates: latitude and longitude take priority over place. The page resolves a nearby named place for display and background imagery, while forecasts use the exact coordinates you supplied.
?lat=54.16&lon=19.40
Open an individual model
Add model to the URL to open one enabled source in detail mode. Use the exact source ID from the directory below; it is the most reliable value. A few short aliases such as ecmwf, gfs, icon, aifs, arome and hrdps are also supported.
?place=Elblag&model=ecmwf
?place=Elblag&model=gfs
?place=Elblag&model=icon
?place=Elblag&model=ecmwf_ifs025
Only sources enabled in the administrator settings, configured where necessary, and available for the location can be opened. Use All models to return to the aggregated view.
All supported models and forecast sources
The directory below lists every source ID accepted by ?model= in the current project. Copy the exact ID into your URL, for example ?place=Elblag&model=bom_access_global_ensemble. Whether a source can be opened also depends on its enabled state in the admin panel, geographic coverage, current provider availability, and any required configuration.

Enable JSON output with json=yes to receive a machine-readable JSON response with current conditions, source IDs, source count, and an SVG weather icon in the response.
?json=yes&place=Elblag
?json=yes&lat=54.16&lon=19.40
?json=yes&lat=54.16&lon=19.40&model=ecmwf_ifs025
The JSON route follows its own JSON-enabled sources selection in the administrator panel, independently of the sources enabled for the interactive page. JSON responses are assembled by the site server, so provider calls made for this route use the server-side quotas of the providers they contact.
Install on your phone
The mobile Install button opens instructions and a copyable shortcut URL. After choosing a place, the link stores its exact coordinates, theme, temperature units, wind units and pressure units.
On iPhone or iPad, open the link in Safari, tap Share and choose Add to Home Screen. On Android, use the browser menu and choose Add to Home Screen or Create shortcut when available. The browser must confirm the action; a site cannot place an icon on the home screen without the visitor's permission.
Usage diagnostics and privacy
For reliability, usage statistics and abuse prevention, the server records the visitor IP address, selected location and rounded coordinates, source/API status, and timestamp. Diagnostic logs are retained for up to 35 days and are accessible only through the administrator panel.
Manage sources and themes
The administrator panel controls which models and aggregators participate. Unchecked sources are omitted from downloads, the average, cards, and JSON output. Some optional sources are available thanks to the administrator’s access and credentials.
Choose Aura, Dark, or Light in the page header. The display controls switch temperature between °C and °F, wind between km/h and mph, and pressure between hPa and inHg. These are presentation-only conversions: forecast data and JSON keep the standard source units (°C, km/h, and hPa).
